Wow, it has been nearly a week since I have written last.
The last week has been fairly busy. Today is the first break I’ve taken from my workout regime, though the day is still not over. I am feeling tired, though accomplished. My weight is slowly coming down again, and I am again under 260lbs, which has me feeling great.
I saw the kinesiologist who has been helping me develop my workout routine. She put me on the body scanning machine they have, which determines fat percentage as well as muscle mass and hydration level. With only being back into the workout regime for the last month, I was wondering how well the scan was going to go. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised.
While my percentage of body fat is up a bit, which isn’t a surprise, my muscle mass has stayed at the level it was at back in the spring, the last time I had the scan done. Weight-wise, despite the body fat going up a bit, my weight was within four pounds of my last scan as well. Overall, it was good news.
The only real input the kinesiologist gave me as to my current workout routine was that I should back off a bit, and let myself rest so I don’t tire myself out too badly. Her suggestion is why I’m seriously considering giving myself the day off from my exercise routine.
We’ll see, I’m covering the store today while Lynn is away, so I’m not moving as much as usual. I may end up heading down and at least doing some time on the treadmill, even if I don’t do weights, just to get some movement in. Further complicating matters is the weather. We got hit with snow last night, so I’m not sure I really want to be taking the dogs for our usual walk.
On another note, I finally got my essay completed and submitted earlier in the week. I received my mark on it last night, earning an 82 per cent on the paper. The tutor who marked it said I would have done better, however I did not do a deep enough critical analysis of the subject matter. It’s food for thought for my next assignment, which I will be starting in a few weeks.
This was a quieter week as far as work goes. Some of the stories that I was anticipating either didn’t pan out or were rescheduled, however I am not complaining. It gave me time to work on my fitness and school. I finished up another unit in my history course, and have started looking over the next one.
I know that the amount of writing on my blog has decreased lately, and for that I apologize. However, with everything going on, and with where I am mentally, I’m focusing more on writing one or two quality pieces per week instead of putting out less polished work daily.
Mentally, I’m feeling good. A bit fatigued, but good. I’ve made some solid progress over the last month, and it is progress I intend to maintain. What I need to realize is that taking a day off to recharge is not a bad thing. I’m not going to lose my forward momentum by taking a break. Taking a break will allow me to keep doing what I’m doing.
***Edit: I did end up hopping on the treadmill after I got home from the store, doing a light thirty minutes just to move. I opted to skip the weight workout for today, with plans to return to it on Monday. K ***
