Where do the days go?
I haven’t written in a few days because I’ve gotten busy. I’ve been putting tons of time in to my studies, as well catching the odd story for work.
School-wise, I’m still working on my next module through Athabasca University, which currently has me working on a research essay. I’m still doing good for time, so I’m taking my time on it, and hope to have it finished and submitted for the end of next week. I’m also working through a couple of diploma courses through another school for photoshop and my photography. Together the two courses are only four hours a week, so not a huge increase to my workload.
Additionally, I’ve been transitioning back into a fitness routine which I’m hoping to keep going a little longer than last time. Due to the shoulder I haven’t been doing weights yet, however I’ve slowly extended my distance on the treadmill, along with dropping the pace. It’s only been a few days since I’ve been on the treadmill again, but I’m already noticing a difference in my moods and my sleep, both to the positive.
Something else I’m working on is my creative writing. I’ve started and stopped on projects a few times due to always getting myself frustrated. I’ve been working through a “Creative Writing for.Dummies” book, which has given me a bunch of insight into my writing. To that end, I have started another new project.
However, instead of just rushing into the writing, I’m actually taking some time to plot out the story using index cards, and come hell or high water I’m intending on finishing this one. Even if I only manage 750 words a day, I’m going to try and make some creative writing a part of every day.
Writing out everything I’ve got going on, it doesn’t seem real. I don’t feel like I am that busy. I feel like my days are full, but still I’m not finding things overwhelming. I do know that I am treading into dangerous territory. I don’t feel like I need to pull back, but I am definitely at the point where I can’t take on any more. I need to work on the skills that I have, and work on further developing them before I jump into anything else.
All that being said, I am still trying to get out shooting at least once or twice a week. I was out on May 24, for a drive in the “Golden Hour” and managed some good shots of some geese, and a couple of deer as well.
