Well today was a mix of good and bad.
The good news is that the rotator tear I was previously diagnosed with in my right shoulder is no longer an issue. The bad news is that the ultrasound apparently showed the development of bursitis in the shoulder, which explains the ache.
They opted to do the injection anyway, because it did help so well last time, however the doctor’s recommendation at the pain management clinic is for another type of injection if the symptoms recur.
The only unfortunate thing about the injection is the arm is going to be sore for a couple days as the fluid works into the joint. With any luck it will be a quick process.
The other bright side is B and I had a chance to hang out today. We’ve each had so much going on in our lives that we haven’t been able to connect at all for awhile. He was kind enough to give me a ride to Red Deer today, which made my life infinitely easier.
While in Red Deer I also had an in-person appointment with M. He was… surprised at how much I have going on, yet am continuing to maintain. He said that in his opinion there was no way we would be having the same conversation three years ago. He figures it’s a testament of how far I have come, and he attributes a lot of it back in to my writing.
He agrees that I am not looking at things through the same lens as I was before. I’ve shifted my view, and am not letting things get to me quite as much as they were. I still have my bad days, but they are definitely fewer, further between, and less intense than they were. And when my borderline seriously flares? I have a plan for that, and as I saw in October, the plan works. Truthfully though, I would be happy to not have to rely on that plan quite as heavily.
All in all, today was a good day. Even with everything I have going on, I’m not getting stressed out. I’m maintaining. I’m making self care a priority. And I am, fortunately, doing what I love.
