Movie review: Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw (No spoilers)

I have to admit, when I first saw the trailers for Hobbs & Shaw, I wasn’t going into the movie with high expectations.

The entire super soldier trope has been overdone, however the movie surpassed all expectations. The chemistry between Johnson and Statham is undeniable , and manages to grow throughout the entire two hour run.

The movie starts with an MI-6 agent apparently going rogue with a virus that could end the world, and the CIA calls on rogue MI-6 Deckard Shaw and DSS agent Luke Hobbs to work together to save the world.

Long-time fans of the series will remember that Hobbs was introduced in Fast Five to hunt for Dom Torreto and Brian O’Conner in Brazil, and he has become one of the main players in the series.

Shaw was introduced in the very end of Fast & Furious 6, and became the main villain of Furious 7, before coming to the aid of Toretto in the Fate of the Furious.

In Hobbs & Shaw, after the events of the Fate of the Furious, the two have gone their separate ways until the CIA comes calling on them, forcing them back together.

At first, they fight it until they are forced to go on the run with the missing agent, who happens to be Shaw’s sister. Once they are on the run, they become hunted by Idris Elba’s super soldier Brixton, who is also after the virus.

There are surprise star cameo’s in the very entertaining movie, and it sports a great soundtrack. In my opinion it’s definitely a must see action movie for the summer. I give it 4/5.
