Time Management

It’s hard to stay motivated, life so easily gets in the way.

Work.

School.

The latest, greatest movie.

Friends in trouble.

There always seems to be something coming up that makes it way too easy to say “I’m too busy to workout today,” or “I’ll workout tomorrow.”

The thing is life happens, and it comes down to the priorities you set for yourself.

Despite it’s calming effect on me, I’ve never been a huge fan of working out. It’s always been so much easier to veg out playing video games, or reading, or watching TV.

Committing yourself to a workout regime is tough, and there is only 24 hours in a day, who wants to waste time doing something you don’t want to do?

This can be looked at another way though. There are 24 hours in a day.

You spend roughly eight hours sleeping, so that knocks your usable time down to 16 hours. Say you work full time, there’s another eight hours gone, still leaving you with eight hours.

Is it unrealistic find half an hour a day in that eight hours to do something that could benefit you? Is it unreasonable to find half an hour a day to do something you don’t want to do?

Life in today’s world is too easy.

It’s too easy to find something pleasurable over something worthwhile. I know. I’m guilty of it myself.

I’m not a fan of housecleaning, and neither is Lynn. I like a clean house though, so what are my options? hire someone to clean for us, which is unreasonable and expensive, or do something I don’t like doing, and do some tidying.

Is it perfect? No.

Is it better than living in the mess? Absolutely.

Something I’m finding is that the more I do something I’d rather not be doing, the easier it gets to get it done and over with.

Besides, if I spend half an hour cleaning, that’s only half an hour out of my 24 hours. It still leaves me plenty of time to do things that I enjoy more.

Thanks for following along.
