As December 2018 fades into the history books and 2019 starts, I think about the roads travelled, people I’ve met, and learning I’ve done.
In the last twelve months I’ve finished off a support group for which I travelled to Edmonton on a weekly basis for over a year. I found my new role in life as a journalist and photographer. I’ve met new friends and said goodbye to others.
I’ve pushed myself hard, I’ve stumbled, but I’ve gotten up more often than I fell. I’ve had one hospital admission, but that’s not a failure, that’s coping with the cards I’ve been played.
I have nothing to feel bad about for 2018. I have been through hell and have come out the other side, broken, but not beaten.
My goals for 2019 are to keep doing what I’ve been doing: Grow. Learn. Be the best me I can be. Keep pushing my limits.
What is the one thing you are the most proud of that you learned in 2018?
For me, it’s photo editing in photoshop. With the awesome weather we had today, I hit the road to get some photos of the beautiful part of the world I am blessed to live in.
Below is one of the photos I took of the windmills near my home.
This second photo is after I cropped and colour corrected it.
The awesome thing is that I am learning more all the time. Thanks to the great mentor I have, my skills have grown exponentially in a short period of time, and the more I do, the better I get.
I have worked hard to get to this point, and I have had many people supporting me along the way. Despite the challenges I face, I am hopeful about the future. Despite the challenges I’ve faced in the last 365 days, tomorrow is the start of 365 chances to make 2019 my best year yet.
